English as a Second Language (ESL)

Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is required.

Toronto Film School does not accept students from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. If student have successfully studied for three years in an English speaking country, then student do not need to submit ESL test results. If student have studied in English for at least two years at a recognized college or have successfully completed one year of study at a recognized university or a one-year post graduate certificate at a recognized college, then student do not need to submit ESL test results. There is no additional cost to the program when students take the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course. Students whose IELTS score (or equivalent) is 4.5or higher but lower than 5.5 will have to successfully complete Level 2 of the ESL Pathway Program. Students whose IELTS score (or equivalent) is lower than 4.5 but above 4.0 will have to successfully complete Level 1 and Level 2 of the ESL Pathway Program. Students whose IELTS score is lower than 4.0 will have to successfully complete Beginner, Level 1 and Level 2 of the ESL Pathway Program.
